(Now Known as The Aussie Rooster)

In the Year of 1851 Moses Evans of Chwrela (now called Trevor) emigrated to Australia. On arriving he settled in Sydney N.S.W. Though his activities whilst there are not known, after a short period he moved to Melbourne, Victoria.

Gold was discovered in Australia in 1837 and he left Melbourne for Boulder, a township in Western Australia, looking to find his fortunes there. He found no success so he moved back East to Ballarat, Victoria.

It was there that his fortunes changed and he struck a rich seam of gold. The gold rush faded in 1860 but Evans stayed in Ballarat for about another year. He was by then a very wealthy man. In about 1861 he returned to this country and settled back in Trevor. It is thought that his early days back in Wales were spent in the small cottages at the rear of the Australia Arms, which have long since been demolished.

He invested heavily in the setting up of the brickworks in Trevor he also established an Inn which he chose to call the Australia Arms in memory of his years spent down under. The brickworks were also called the Australia brickworks and have been employer to hundreds of local men through many generations. It was closed down in the nineteen seventies more than one hundred years after Evans returned to his home country. Today the pub is called The Aussie Rooster!
